  • #08 EN - Searching for traces
In this episode, we discuss the Pass Sanctuary Hochtor, which also has an exhibition at the south portal, on the Carinthian side of the Hochtor. The exhibition invites you on a time journey through three and a half millennia, during which the Glockner crossing was the shortest trade route between Germany in the north and the world trade center Venice in the south. The exhibition was designed by Dr. Georg Kandutsch, who also found and prepared many of the exhibits himself – and today, he is guiding me through the exhibition. He describes himself as a hobby archaeologist because, as he explained to me with a wink at the beginning, anything you haven't studied properly shouldn't be called your profession. The philosopher Richard David Precht once titled one of his books: "Who Am I? And If So, How Many?" – Rarely has this applied so well to someone as it does to Dr. Kandutsch. My name is Max Kögl and I wish you much pleasure in this exciting episode – and by the way: Like all exhibitions along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, the visit to the Pass Sanctuary Hochtor exhibition is free – so we are looking forward to your visit soon. • #06 EN - Snow removal of superlatives
Welcome to the Glocknergipfel - The podcast of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road AG. In this episode of our podcast, we discuss how the scenic road is made accessible to visitors again in the spring: Every year, incredibly large amounts of snow have to be removed and moved. In this episode, we hear about the challenges of snow clearing on the high alpine road - then and now, talk with Grohag employees about their daily routines, but also about the dangers, for example from avalanches, and how the road is made into a safe experience. Many thanks at this point to the team from "Servus TV" who provided us with some of the original interview recordings with the Grohag employees. We are pleased if you enjoyed it and would like to leave us a positive review on the podcast platforms or recommend Glocknergipfel to others.
